I am so sick of repeating the same thing over and over again. But i still need to address this.
Why do you have to be so insensitive and post my gifs everywhere? Without proper credit at that???? I don’t think it’d hurt to even tag me????
I guess it’s because you don’t know how hard it is to make gifs. Then let me break down the process to you:
- You have to download or record the video. At times you have to wait for HD ones and for goodness sake; downloading a HD video could take minutes to download! (Once, I had to wait 15 minutes just to download a 10 mins long video)
Process: 2-3 minutes (usually) - After downloading, you’d need to extract the frames. For other gif-makers, they may import them via photoshop which could save a lot of time (still it doesn’t mean that it’s as easy as you thought!), but I chose the hard way. Instead, I use another software to extract frame by frame just to make it FUCKING HD. Then I’d have to load the frames into Photoshop.
Process: 1 minute - When that’s settled, you’d need to crop and resize accordingly. Depending whether you want to make a 540px gifset or 268px or 177px. Just remember this: at times you need to crop different moment SEPARATELY because a) it’s cropped out OR b) the focus/main character changed place in the frame.
Process: 1-2 minutes - PSD TIME! Now you have to tweak the colours to make it look vibrant at the same time NOT WHITEWASHING the skin. I have to tweak the Selective Colours, Vibrance, Brightness/Contrast, Gradient Layer, Colour Balance. I have AT LEAST 6 layers of Adjustments to make them HD and NOT grainy.
Process: 3-5 minutes - Then of course you can’t simply finish up there. You need to SHARPEN it. So you’d have to convert it to video timeline and change the layer to smart layer, then sharpen accordingly. Once again, NOT TOO GRAINY.
Process: 1 minute - Then SAVE. But boo freaking hoo, you have to make sure the gif doesn’t exceed 2MB, or else it’d freeze once uploaded. So you need to delete few frames until it’s less than 2MB.
Process: 1-2 minutes - DON’T FORGET THAT YOU’RE BATTLING WITH TIME TOO. Cause you want to produce gifs asap, to get your content out there as soon as the show finished. Roughly it would take about 10-15 minutes just to finish a gifset.
And yet here you are, reposting my gifs without even crediting me. Trust me, many gifmakers here try their best to make HD gifs by going through the process mentioned above. However, you still repost the gifmakers’ hard-work. Why can’t you reblog? Or retweet? Or share? Or I don’t know.. CREDIT???? Try and go through 5 minutes of hardwork just to see your content being shared elsewhere, by another person at that.
I swear if this keeps happening, I don’t think I want to gif anymore.
